In many parts of the Middle East, cultural norms and social barriers often limit young women’s participation in sports. My initiative, “Goal for Girls,” aims to change this by using sports as a tool for empowerment.

The Genesis

“Goal for Girls” started in Amman, Jordan, with a simple soccer program designed to bring young women together to play, learn, and grow. The initiative quickly grew as we saw the profound impact sports had on these young women’s confidence and social skills.

Overcoming Challenges

One of the main challenges was societal resistance. It took time and effort to change perceptions and demonstrate the benefits of women in sports. We held community meetings, showcased success stories, and gradually, acceptance grew.

Recognition and Support

Winning the King Hamad Award in 2022 provided us with a platform to share our story and the necessary funds to expand our programs. We have since introduced leadership workshops, health education, and have plans to branch out into other sports.

Lasting Impact

The transformation in our participants is evident. They are not only physically healthier but also more confident and vocal in their communities. Sports have given them a voice and a community.

Moving Forward

The journey to empower young women through sports is just beginning. “Goal for Girls” is more than a program—it’s a movement. We are committed to breaking barriers and building futures, one goal at a time. Join us in this mission to empower, educate, and inspire.
